Enhancing the capabilities of technical education in India

HOME  >  GOOD GOVERNANCE PROGRAMME  >  SUCCESS CRITERIA

By the end of the second Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP ) the majority of all TEQIP institutions will have participated in the TEQIP Good Governance Programme and the following will be achieved.

  • At least 135 TEQIP approved institutions will have carried out a Governance Self-Review, and will begin to produce a Governance Development Plan.
  • Three levels - individual, institutional and systems level governance support and activities will be considered by the programme and discussed with key officials and institutional representatives.
  • Experience will be shared through the community of TEQIP institutions - through mentoring and facilitated TEQIP Good Governance Forums, reports and the Website.

By the end of the programme (December 2014) a number of TEQIP institutions should have made progress towards producing their own institutional Governance Guidelines Document taking account of the generic core principles and practice identified in the TEQIP Good Practice Guide for Governing Bodies.

TEQIP Performance Auditors will report, independently of the governance programme, on governance practice found during their Performance Audit visits.

Self-review is a key activity and output of the TEQIP Good Governance Programme through which institutions carry out an honest assessment of their current governance practice.

Supporting governance development needs of individual governors, governing bodies and institutions. An output of the TEQIP Good Governance Programme is to see how governance development is built into institutional development through a time bound governance development plan with clear goals and action plans.

Implementing good governance practice is the primary outcome of the TEQIP Good Governance Programme demonstrated by institutions developing and documenting their own governance guidelines based on the principles set out in the TEQIP Good Practice Guide for Governing Bodies.
Sharing experience of the TEQIP Good Governance Programme through good governance learning forums, and sharing of institutional case studies to identify good practice, and the need to embed continuous improvement and identify common gaps, barriers and issues.
